DISCIPLINE/AREA OF CONCENTRATION:
Structures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Technical knowledge of structural engineering, AASHTO LRFD, and FDOT design standards.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the project development process.
• Proficient knowledge in Bridge Component Design, such as Steel Girders, Prestressed Beam, Piers and Foundation.
• Knowledge of Bridge Component Software for Steel and Concrete Bridges, such as MIDAS (or MDX), CONSPAN and RCPIER.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Skills – CADD (including 3D).
• Ability to evaluate problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and determine solutions.
• Ability to understand, analyze, and process complex technical information and materials.
• Ability to effectively work independently and within a team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Prepares structural calculations/design for projects involving steel and concrete.
• Uses advanced techniques, theory precepts and practices in the structural engineering field and related disciplines.
• Provides technical direction over a group of structural engineers and/or functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing advanced structural engineering concepts.
• Coordinates technical and administrative activities with those of other disciplines and other departments in the company participating in a project.
• Participates in constructability/quality control reviews.
• Coordinates, writes and/or edits specifications as it applies to engineering projects.
EXPERIENCE:
• Typically four (4) years’ post registration experience.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s Degree a plus.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
