Juan Carlos Samuel, E.I.

Broward Branch President

Juan Carlos Samuel, E.I, ENV SP is a Senior Project Manager with the City of Hollywood’s Public Utilities Department focusing on Stormwater Infrastructure Design & Construction. He has been involved with the Broward Branch for several years, previously serving as the Engineering Encounters (ASCE Bridge Florida) chair, Treasurer, Vice President and President-Elect.

Lauren Johnson, P.E.


Broward Branch President-Elect

Lauren Johnson, P.E. is a Project Manager at Thompson & Associates, Inc. with over six years of experience delivering civil engineering projects for public and private sector clients. Her expertise includes design, permitting, and construction for water distribution, sewer collection, transmission mains, stormwater management, drainage, and park and recreation projects. She has been actively involved with the Broward Branch for the past three years, serving as Bowl-a-Thon Chair and Treasurer, and supporting community outreach initiatives.

Dominique Hawkins

Broward Branch Vice President

Dominique Hawkins is a Project Engineer at Ross Engineers in Davie, FL with 3 years of experience in the engineering industry. During her time at Florida Atlantic University, Dominique was an active member in ASCE@FAU, participating in competitions and community outreach. She has now been involved in the ASCE Broward Board for the last 2 years, previously serving as Social Media Chair and Graphics Chair, assisting with community outreach events, and currently serving as the Branch Secretary.

Michael Pinzon, P.E.

Broward Branch Treasurer

Michael Pinzon, P.E. is a Project Manager at KEITH with over eight (8) years of consulting experience. He specializes in Land Development, as well as underground utility and drainage design. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida International University (FIU) in 2019 and first joined the ASCE Broward Branch in 2023 as the Young Member Group (YMG) chair.

Karla Jimenez, E.I

Broward Branch Secretary

Karla Jimenez, E.I. is an Engineer at Chen Moore & Associates with 2 years of experience of consulting experience, focusing on Water Resources. She graduated from Florida International University (FIU) in 2023 with a double degree in Environmental Engineering and Interdisciplinary Engineering. She first joined the ASCE Broward Branch as the Professional Development Chair in 2024.

Dominique Hawkins

Elias Guevara, P.E. is a Project Engineer with EAC Consulting with over seven (7) years of experience. He has been involved with the Broward Branch for the last 7 years, previously serving as the Web Master, Scholarship Chair, Secretary and currently serving as the Broward Branch Past-President. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida International University (2018) and first joined ASCE as a student member in 2015.

Alex Lazowick, P.E.

Broward Branch Advisor

Alex Lazowick currently serves as the firm’s President and Principal in Charge, where he is a responsible for the daily operations of the company as well as providing business development opportunities within all sectors of the firm. Alex plays an integral role determining long-term strategic goals and direction of the firm. He continues to lead, inspire, and direct the growth of KEITH during this exciting time. He further attends many political and philanthropic events in the community.

Huntley Higgins, P.E., PMP

Broward Branch Advisor

Huntley Higgins has over 25 years of engineering infrastructure design experience. Specifically, his expertise includes the planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of stormwater management systems, water transmission and distribution mains, wastewater collection mains, force mains, reuse mains, and pump station projects. Mr. Higgins has held several engineering, management, and leadership roles in his career. As Department Manager, he leads, mentors, and oversees the work of project managers, engineers, and engineering interns. In addition, Huntley is responsible for the strategic planning, business development, client relations, quality management, and financial aspects of the department

Roberto Guzmán Sanchez, P.E.

Broward Branch Advisor

Roberto Guzmán is a civil engineer with over 24 years of professional experience delivering complex engineering and construction projects across multiple regions, including the United States, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Chile, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Aruba, The Bahamas, and Nigeria, among others. Since 2017, Roberto has been an active entrepreneur, founding and leading companies in multiple countries focused on construction management, general design services (structural, civil, MEP and architectural), construction equipment rental, and construction material supply. His work bridges engineering precision with real-world constructability, cost control, and execution efficiency. Beyond project delivery and business leadership, Roberto is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of engineering and construction professionals, sharing practical knowledge, professional discipline, and a global perspective developed through decades of hands-on experience.
