Join the ASCE Broward Branch on Wednesday May 6th for a Lunch and Learn session on Comprehensive Pavement and Asset Inventory and Evaluation for Roadways. This presentation by Michael Baker International will examine the application of advanced roadway and pavement data collection technologies in developing robust asset management programs for resource-limited municipalities. Participants will also explore how data collection systems can help produce objective, defensible pavement condition assessments while concurrently generating GIS-ready right-of-way asset inventories, including signage, pavement markings, drainage infrastructure, and ancillary roadside assets. Given the proliferation of technology solutions and artificial intelligence applications in the infrastructure sector, many offering capabilities that exceed actual performance, this session provides essential guidance for distinguishing validated, engineering-grade tools from unsubstantiated products.
The presentation will address implementation strategies for comprehensive evaluation programs and demonstrate how collected data integrates into pavement and asset management systems to enable evidence-based decision-making, optimize maintenance resource allocation, and establish defensible decision-making.
