Keynote Speaker Biography
Mr. Tornese serves as Director of Broward County’s Highway Construction and Engineering Division and is the County Engineer. In this role, he leads 62 employees and the County’s transportation capital improvement programs. Mr. Tornese is also responsible for all construction activities within the County’s jurisdictional roadways. The multiple sections under the Highway Construction and Engineering Division include: Capital Project Management for Highways and Bridges Traffic Capital Improvements

Mr. Tornese has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. He also has numerous certifications relating to design and construction management work. He brings 40 years of experience associated with transportation and land development projects. His broad range of experience includes management of major highway design and construction projects, traffic engineering, land development, and drainage improvements. He is a member of the FDOT Greenbook Advisory Committee and the Florida Engineering Society.
